We are committed to playing our part in serving the vulnerable in Oswestry and doing all we can to make Oswestry a better place to live. We are always looking at new ways to serve people. Here’s what we are currently involved with:
A brand new project to help homeless people. Compass is a medium term supported accommodation project. We are currently setting up a house for 4 single males and will provide a programme to help them develop the confidence and skills they need to solve their homeless challenges. Click on Compass for more information.
We hold a monthly prayer meeting on a Sunday evening at Church where we pray over the activities the Church is doing each month. This includes praying for all our social involvement, as well as supporting the strategic vision of the church.
Once a year we devote 9 days to serving the community (blessing Oswestry, hense OsBless). Delivering a variety of one-off projects to help vulnerable people and community organisations. Past projects have included running craft projects in residential centres, decorating the homes of vulnerable people, practical jobs for local charities and providing social events for refugees.
A typical OsBless includes 70 volunteers, 15 projects and 10 partner organisations!
We run regular Job Clubs and provide access to IT so people can develop their confidence, set personal goals and get themselves back into employment. This is run in partnership with CAP and Foodbank.
A brand new project that supports families in need by providing school uniforms at affordable prices.
Hope is involved with networking to signpost and connect those in need with appropriate services.
