Communities

As we look to be intentional and missional in our local areas, we also have ways to serve and connect with our local community as well as with others from the church. Check out below how we come together in different ways throughout our weeks.

Compass - A way out of homelessness

Compass is a project we run in partnership with Green Pastures to help people find a way out of homelessness. We work with each individual to design a support programme which will help them to gain confidence, skills and solutions, whilst providing them with medium term supported accommodation.

We believe Compass will offer a real opportunity for people to make a change to their life and access permanent long term housing.

Osbless - Serving our community

Once a year we devote 9 days to serving the community during 'OsBless'. Delivering a variety of one-off projects to help vulnerable people and community organisations. Past projects have included running craft projects in residential centres, decorating the homes of vulnerable people, practical jobs for local charities and providing social events for refugees.

Home groups - a discipleship hub

We love doing life together, and whilst church on a Sunday is great, it can be pretty difficult to get to know anyone on a "real" level. However, meeting with 6-10 people regularly can provide a space for honesty, vulnerability, getting to the "nitty-gritty" and a whole load of fun.

We have groups meeting at different times during the week, with different focuses and they happen both in-person and online. Message us below to find out more.

Additional Needs Community

We have a strong community of people with additional needs within Hope Church, many of whom are part of the local college at Derwen. We are passionate about their involvement in church life and about seeing them flourish and grow into the men and women of faith God has called them to be.

Using Makaton, simple worship, drama, crafts and lots of fun activities we are able to demonstrate faith and the love of Jesus in a way that is accessible to all.

Over 65's

We have lots going on for older people. There are some great opportunities to meet new people in a friendly atmosphere. We want to support older people to live life to the full. Every Tuesday at 11am we have a gentle exercise class followed by a home-cooked meal at 12:30pm. To find out more, send us a message below.

Online

We have loved finding new ways to connect and encourage one another during the hours outside of a Sunday, and one way we do that is on our social media platforms. We especially love our community group on Facebook, where people regularly share what God has been challenging them with or how they have been growing in their faith. We also have tonnes of fun challenges and activities on there at different times throughout the year. Check out the links below
